Community leaders in Ayobo area of Lagos State, during the week expressed their grievances against the unilateral action of the Undertaking Manager of the Ikeja Electric Distribution Company, Mrs Odebiyi in Ayobo who disconnected power supply to the area for over four weeks now.
In a petition titled “A Case of Intentional Distruption of Power Supply By IKEDC staff, Mrs Kike Odebiyi. The community was represented by Major Adeyi, they said the community have been groaning in darkness because of the action of Mrs Kike Odebiyi
The affected areas are Kaka Zone 1 extending to Baale Street, Kaka Zone 11, extending to Oke Afa, Babs Jide Otutu Street, extending to some areas opposite Ayobo Market.
The community leaders said that the reason she gave for cutting off electricity supply to the area was allegations that the communities are owing Five Million Naira (5 million).
The Ayobo community leaders appealed to IKEDC to come to their aid because the community with well over 400,000 inhabitants are finding life unbearable under intense hit ocassioned with security challenges.
However, some communities that are not owing IKEDC are partaking in punishment by also linking them to the disconnection.
