General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Lawrence Fejokwu,has charged army officers to improve on professional skills.
Fejokwu gave the advice at the 81 Division Inter Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Competition, hosted by 243 RECCE Battalion, Ibereko, Badagry, Lagos.
The GOC enjoined all participants to compete fairly and used the opportunity to bond with each other.
He said the competition was aimed at homing the combat and kinetic skills of soldiers in order to enhance their capacity to meet their constitutional roles.
According to the GOC, this is in line with the Chief of Army staff vision “A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplished Assigned Tasks Within a Joint Environment”
Fejokwu further tasked all participating formations to use the opportunity to correct observed lapses in order to improve in future exercises and operations.
On the competition, he said it was yearly event which aims to enhance the professionalism of men and women of these cadre.
“The competition has a contingent each from 9 Brigade Ikeja, 35 Artillery Brigade, 45 Engineer Brigade and 81 Division Garrison.
“The events outlined for the competition includes the Live Firing Excercise, Map Reading, Combat Swimming and Obstacle Course Competition.
“The competition began on Monday, July 12 at the 192 battalion Live Firing Range Ajilite, Owode and will come to an end on Thursday, July 16,” he said.
