Chairperson of the Newly elected Chairman of Somolu Local Government council, Honourable Mariam Salawu Dullar has said that Honourable Abdul Hamed Salawu popularly known as “Dullar”is a man who knows his community,loves them and is ready to serve them. According to her,”they know he loves his local government,and he has been doing great things for them before he came into office. As the chairman,in his first tenure, he has done well in the area of infrastructure, Economic and social,if you look at the roads in Somolu,l believe we have done almost fourty roads for a tenure,that is a beautiful one. In the area of infrastructure,he has built some schools,renovated others,healthcare centres,among others. On social welfare, Honourable Salawu,has a good welfare package for his people,for example, “from inception of this administration,we have been involved in Welfare programme for Elderly men and women,from the age of 60 years and above,we take care of up to 2000 elderly ones every month aside the youths,vulnerable people in our communities. We have about 27 physically challenged people in our executive council,including the deaf and dumb, He runs an all-inclusive government where everyone feels a sense of belonging. “On women, Honourable Mariam noted that this government believes in women having secured 80 per cent votes from them. Presently,in his cabinet, he gave about 75 per cent posts to women,especially the special Advisers,and the senior special Advisers, he believes that in governance,we need women. We also have empowerment programmes for women and youths.” Also speaking, Honourable Rasak Tajudeen,the special Advisers to the chairman on market matters said” the chairman deserves 6to be re- elected,he has performed wonderfully well in the area of infrastructure in the local government. According to him” this is the chairperson beside me,a woman of substance,a woman behind the success,a good adviser, when you have a chairman,who has a good adviser behind him,definitely,the chairman is going to perform and that is exactly what we are enjoying in our local government-youths,council of chiefs,elders,women and everyone is happy with him. Though,l am not satisfied with the Lagos State independent Electoral commission (LASIEC),the publicity is not enough,his performance in the first tenure has spoken louder for him to be re- elected.”he said.
