President Muhammadu Buhari has said that more than 85million Nigerians have so far been enrolled into the National Identification Number (NIN) database.
The President said this on Sunday in a statement on his verified Twitter handle, @MBuhari.
President Buhari said that the work was ongoing for the purpose of leaving behind a credible and robust foundation of digital identity for a secured and prosperous Nigeria.
@MBuhari twitted: “We have now enrolled more than 85 million persons into the NIN database. The work continues, to leave behind a credible and robust foundation of digital identity for the security and prosperity of Nigeria.”
A National Identification Number number is used by many governments world wide to track their citizens, permanent residents, and temporary residents for the purposes of work, taxation, government benefits health care, and similar functions.
