
The 15 Field Engineer Regiment of Nigerian Army, Topo, Badagry, Lagos State, on Monday decorated a newly promoted officer, Lt. Usofo Umeren with his new rank.

Umeren was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain.
Speaking during the decoration, the Regimen’s Commanding Officer, Lt.-Col. Mohammed Bello, urged the newly promoted officer to adhere strictly to professional ethos of the military.

According to the Commanding Officer, the rank of Capt. is bestowed with a lot of responsibilities.
“Today is a special day for you because you are being decorated with the rank of Captain.
“I am using this avenue to advise you to be disciplined because if you are disciplined, you will progress in your work.

“Discipline is the bedrock of the Army, you can be intelligent but if you are not disciplined in the Army, you are going no way.
“In this new rank, you must be matured and be loyal to the Commander-in-Chief of Nigerian Army, President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.
Bello urged the officer to respect his seniors and also obey obey professional ethos of the military.
He advised Umeren to start planning for his carrier, if he has not started.
Also speaking, the Divisional Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) Badagry Command, CSC Akinyemi Rasheed said that the rank was an additional responsibility which he must discharged diligently.
Rasheed urged the newly promoted officer to always collaborate with sister agencies on security matters.
Prince Muritala Muhammed, a Friend of the command also urged Umeren to discharge his duty according to the rule of engagement.
Speaking, Umeren thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, for approving his promotion.
He pledged his unalloyed loyalty and commitment to the Nigerian Army.
“I promise to tackle this height of rank with great zeal of enthusiasm,” he said.
Umeren thanked the commanding officer and his family for their support.
