Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed has cried to the federal government for assistance for victims of flood disaster in the State.
Governor Mohammed made the plea via his verified Twitter handle, @SenBalaMohammed, with particular reference to the victims of flood in Darazo Local Government area of Bauchi St
On a visit to the victims, Governor Mohammed sympathized with them and assured of immediate distribution of relief materials to alleviate their suffering.
@SenBalaMohammed wrote: “On behalf of the government of Bauchi State, I sympathise with victims of the Darazo flood. I’ve assured the victims of immediate distribution of relief materials as part of efforts to alleviate suffering, even as I call on the FG to assist the state with humanitarian support.”
It was earlier reported on July 16, 2022 that flood waters had wrecked havoc in 13 communities in Darazo, the headquarters of Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The flood had washed away over 100 houses in the town and rendered hundreds of people homeless.
Kawuwa Shehu Damina, the Member representing Darazo Constituency in the State House of Assembly said the flood destroyed properties valued at millions of Naira.
He said: “It’s a pity when we went round the town, we saw how the flood damaged people’s food stuffs, fertilizers and many valuables , while many mud houses were destroyed.”
