The former Deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Effiok Cobham under the reigns of the opposition People’s Democratic Party in the state has opposed to the presence of security operatives in Northern Senatorial District as they conduct Stop and search of vehicles movements ahead of Saturday 18th,2023 Gubernatorial elections.
This observation was made in Calabar to media practitioners in less than 24hours to the conduct of Governorship and state Assembly elections as a warning to the security operatives which he claims the order comes from Governor Ben Ayade.
He also declared that the APC leader in the state is giving the order deliberately in attempt to wicth haunt members of the opposition People’s Democratic Party from the area.
He further explain that the Governor is in desperate bid to ensure that the elections in the state is rigged in favour of the ruling APC candidate, Prince Bassey Otu against the PDP.
Also speaking, is the Depute Governorship candidate of the opposition People’s Democratic Party PDP, Emana Duke revealed that the APC have gone far in their efforts to intimate people in the rural areas to vote for APC or else those who fails to comply will be stickmatize.
She appeal to the elections observers and international community to come to their rescue in Cross River State as the people has the right and freedom to exercise their franchise without intimation.
