The Governor Elect in Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu has declared that he will ensure the promotion of International golf games in the state during his administration to bring the state into global picture and also promote tourism initiative.
This assertion was made in Calabar last weekend as part of the inaugural programme outline by the Calabar Golf Club to mark the Governor elect swearing-in ceremony on 29th May, 2023 at U.J. Esune stadium complex as the first Efik son of home breed to be governor since the inception of the state.
He also explained that it had been his desire to join the Calabar Golf Club for personal exercise and relaxation after hectic official hours provided the time permit him to do so but could not until now that he has been invited by the Club Management to become one of them.
The Governor elect described the opportunity of becoming a member of the club as very timely to be inducted into the most revered Calabar Golf Club and also participate as golfers is very interesting and worthy of encouragement.
Speaking earlier is the Captain of Calabar Golf Club, Major General Hamed Sabo (Rtd) expressed gratitude to the Governor elect for honoring the club’s invitation to become their member and promise that he will never regret joining the club.
He recalled that he had served in the state as Brigade Commander and retired but that he had found that Cross River people are very friendly and peaceful which have compel him to prefer in settling in the state with his family.
Captain Sabo also explained that golf is a game of life and it will bring the name of the state into the world map as the number one tourism destination for the state while commending the governor elect because for the past eight years of Governor Ben Ayade’s administration had not known the benefit of Golf games and the state have also decline in sport development.
