
The National Coconut Producers,Processors & Marketers Association of Nigeria (NACOPPMAN) has commended Federal Government for donating14,633 coconut seedlings to farmers in five states in Nigeria.
Dr Nma Okoroji, National President, NACOPPMAN, said the seedlings would mitigate against the effect of flooding in various members farms across the coconut communities in Nigeria.
Okoroji who was represented at the event by Prince Mesi Doheto, the
National Vice President South West NACOPPMAN said this contribution would in no doubt make a significant impact in the Coconut Producing Communities of Lagos, Edo, Anambra, Kogi and Akwa Ibom States of Nigeria.
“Coconut farming plays a crucial role in our local economy, providing livelihoods to many families and contributing to the overall well-being of our region.
According to her “This donation of coconut seedlings by the Federal Government will not only help in sustaining and expanding our existing Coconut plantations.
“It will also contribute significantly to the NACOPPMAN COSIN project towards ensuring coconut sufficiency in Nigeria with the cultivation of 10,000 hectares of land across Nigeria, thereby ensuring a brighter and more prosperous future for our members and our dear Nation.
The Association commended the Minister of Agricultureand Food Security Senator Abubakar Kyari that the association recognizes the importance of collaborations between the government and local organizations, and the commitment of the Ministry to the coconut industry is truly commendable.
“Your generosity serve as a shining example of the positive change that can be achieve when government and grassroots organizations work together for a common goal,” she said.
“These seedlings will not only boost coconut production but also enhance the resilience of our farmers against environmental challenges and further securing our coconut-based livelihoods.
“At this junction we encourage our members to make judicious use of the Coconut seedlings and ensure they plant the seedlings without further delay,” she said.
The president commended FG for its invaluable support and look forward to nurturing these seedlings and witnessing the positive impact they will have on the Nation production capacity.
“We also trust God that same will be done to other affected States in future,” she said.
