The Minister for Education, Professor Tahir Mamman has Commissioned a Multi-Million Naira TETFUND Projects at the University of Calabar last Weekend as part of the activities to mark the 36th Convocation ceremony of the institution.
The projects which involves a three pavilions building, two Hostels and the state of – the – arts building for Department of Mass Communication in attempt to add value to the institution.
Professor Mamman was accompanied with the Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Arc. Sonny Echono declared that the projects are provided to for comfort of the students pursuing various accademic programs at the institution.
In a brief interaction with media practitioners in Calabar soon after the commissioning, Professor Mmaman expressed gratitude and sincere satisfaction with the manner which the projects were executed.
He also urge them to continue to provide more facilities in the institution while warning that the ones they have Commission should be maintained to ensure that they are in top Standard from for usage.
The Minister appeal to the lecturers and all the staff of the institution to ensure that they maintain a conducive environment that will enable them to remain focus on their duties while urging the students to use the facilities provided responsibilly.
Speaking earlier is the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Florence Banku Obi enumerated the facilities provided by her administration to the Mass Communication Department to include, Control Room, Electronics Workshop, Lecture room and offices.
She also expressed delight on the presence of the Minister and the Executive Secretary of TETFUND as part of the team to Calabar.
Professor Obi also expressed hope that his presence of seeing by himself the extent of the projects execution will prompt them for more projects to the institution.
